We invite you and your class to travel back in time to explore the continuum of Olmsted County history. Interact with historical figures and experience "hands-on" activities such as candlemaking, logging camp, swing dance and much more!
With your feedback, we continue to add to the variety and quality of learning stations at Hands-On-History. Professional demonstrators and community members from all over the region provide demonstrations that broaden and enhance the educational opportunities for students. Hands-On-History learning stations help teachers meet state curriculum standards in a number of ways. These demonstrations are appropriate for elementary and middle school students.

Additional Information:
- Groups of more than 33 students should split into and pay for two groups.
- Chaperons, parents, teachers and siblings over 5 years old are included in the count of the number of people in the group. Younger siblings must be accompanied by a separate adult.
- Payment is required in advance by August 1, 2008 to retain early registration placement. All payments are required by September 10, 2008 at the latest. If this is not possible, please contact Cheryl Finnegan at 507-282-9447 extension 114 or cfinnegan@olmstedhistory.com. Please include one check in your envelope.
- Hands-On-History is held RAIN or SHINE, except in the case of very severe weather. Cancellations must be made before August 15, 2008 in order to receive a refund.
- Most Learning Stations are 1/2 hour in length. Some performances are 45 - 50 minutes long.
- Every student, teacher and chaperone must wear a tag identifying their name and school.
- We will be staggering the 1/2 hour lunch breaks between 11:30 am and 1:00 pm.
- We will provide Port-a-Potties with hand cleaning facilities.
- Classes over 20 students should be prepared to split your class in half for some stations which are limited to a smaller number of students. This provides a better learning experience for your students. If this happens, we will try to "flip-flop" the other half of your group into the same stations.
