The History Center of Olmsted County is supported by a dedicated corp of over 400 volunteers who are active in all aspects of operations. Retirees, college and high school students, families, businesses and professionals both young and old are among those who donate their time. The organization works towards its mission because of these important and dedicated individuals. If you'd like to learn how you can volunteer contact our Resource Development Coordinator by calling 507-282-9447 ext 112 or (send email) What can I do? Volunteers play an active role in bringing history to life. Whether you are a Docent for the education department, or a guide at Mayowood, the stories you share bring a piece of history to life. By cataloguing and preserving our collection, both in the archives and the curatorial department you are helping to assure the future by preserving the past. Our maintenance department offers volunteer opportunities which will provide valuable hands on experience in the Building Utilities Maintenance field. Every effort is made to match your interests and abilities with the needs of the History Center. In addition, all volunteers have the opportunity to attend Society events, learn about Olmsted County and spend time with others who love history.
